Day 10 - 3 miles exactly (28.31 mins) @ 9.30/mile

I have to say, in planning this mornings run, back into work where I had left all my clothes etc yesterday, for a morning on-call in the lab, I hadn't actually realised it would be quite so close to last nights run and it would be so cold - like -3.5 C. Now, having run last night at -4 C or so, you might think this sounds like a chicken-out, and there may well have been an element of whinging involved, but ice in the morning is much more dangerous than defrosted streets in the evening. I discussed my options - walking in and running home, driving etc. But then I realised, as I looked out the window, that I think I am forming some sort of bond with the world in this weather, and I really wanted to get out there and see how it felt this morning, whether the trees still resembled Narnia stage props, whether it was icy etc. I put my multi terrain shoes on and thought I'd take to the parks mainly.

The parks and trees were beautiful - I will really miss the ice pictures when they finally melt. It was cheek freezingly cold again, which usually equates to below freezing. As with last night I saw 3 other runners, which reassured me that I wasn't the maddest person in Oxford at least. Unfortunately my legs didn't work quite as well today and I made slow progress. Some was dillydallying over frozen grass, rutted park and patchy snow, and I did have a rucksack on and a bit of residual back ache from last night - I think the shoes I wore last night need retiring - but I couldn't seem to speed up nomatter what. However, I was glad I was out, and delighted to have kept to the plan and have the rest of the day off.

I've just checked the weather and it looks like the frost and snow is just about over and it will be warming up, and raining - something new to run in!
