Day 6 - 3.09 miles (26.02mins) @ 8.26/mile - 8.47/8.07/8.24

Get this - it was -6.9 C when I left for work this morning! Another new record - Mum measured -7.2 C on her weather station in the New Forest. I put on so many clothes, but actually it felt fine, just like yesterday, only I was better prepared. Still boiling when I'd finished walking to work. I went straight downstairs to get the regulatory cup of filter coffee and a woman asked me where I worked and wasn't I cold, because I was down to a T-shirt by that point.

So lunchtime came along - preceeded by less tummy rumbling today - so I thought I'd sneak off before I noticed again. There was just the tiniest bit of reticence about it today, but both my friend in the neighbouring department and my boss/colleague had already asked how I was doing with the great January experiment, so I had to go really. Also my brother hadn't yet posted his story for yesterday yet, and I realised the inspiration he is providing.

I ran round Bury knowle park - 0.5miles to get there, a few residual slippery icy patches and some unavoidable snowy areas. Glorious sunshine, chilly only to start - isn't it amazing what you actually can do if you put your mind to it! The December me wouldn't have dreamt of going out today, or yesterday or possibly at all this year! A few circuitous loops around a fairly small park, involving several trips down a diagonal gently sloping yellowish track (that I named the yellow brick road) in the lovely sunshine with snow glistening off the grass. One of those apecial moments for the brain image/experience memory box, like those digital photo frames that hold multiple pictures and just continuaouls scroll through.

A good stretch today, nice and warm at the end, and no aches and pains as yet. i forgot my fizzy multivitamin tablet before I left this morning, which annoyed me cos I think it really makes me feel more zippy, but I'll have it later and hope it can backdate its effects.

Tomorrow I'm running early afternoon on a regular (reasonably) session with some friends from the other hospital, including my friend who ran his inaugural 5K race on Boxing Day 2008. I'm planning effort sessions in Bury Knowle to improve everyones strength and speed (especially mine - can't believe how slow I am at the moment!) Until then . . . . . .
